Vintage 1930s-1940s Fabric Covered Sewing Box

£22.00

Though made from simply card and thin pieces of board, this 1930s era sewing box has a wonderful fabric covering, very much like crazy paving quilting fabric. The colours are still very bright, suggesting it hasn’t seen a lot of daylight and/or use. It’s lined with a faux snake skin textured paper.
The hinge feels a little delicate, though no obvious detrimental damage, you might want to reinforce it a little if the box will get regular use- even just a strip of paper. The faux snakeskin lining paper is lifting up a little on some edges and the fabric has a somewhat untidy join on the back, this might be where there once was some form of hinge reinforcement or the maker was planning on adding some. The lid has a slight dip if you look at it from the side (see photo).
Measures W37cm x D24cm x H15.5cm
