The padded seat is firm and slides out to reveal a hidden hinged lid. Pre-indoor bathrooms, a maid would place a chamber pot on the floor under the chair whenever the lady of the house required it.
The upholstery has a little marking on the arms and the odd age spot, but is otherwise generally fine.
