The painting has not been cleaned with any products, only dusted. The varnish over the painting has discoloured and crazed with age. There’s a small stretched point in the canvas, likely where it’s been in contact with the corner of another painting.
No clear signature on the front. A unintelligible name penciled on the back of the stretcher. The canvas is stamped Reeves & Son, London.
The simple gilt frame the canvas is mounted in was the inner part of a larger ornate gilt frame. Unfortunately this outer frame is very damaged and the gesso crumbles at the slightest touch so it would not travel well, but please message if you’d be interested.
