


Oval Framed Silk Print ‘Angel’s Heads’ After Reynolds
Printed on silk, the picture is after a painting by Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723–1792). The original painting ‘Angel’s Heads’ was painted around 1786.
“[The] painting shows the head of five-year-old Lady Frances Gordon from five different angles. Reynolds took the idea from 17th-century Italian painting: in seeking to elevate the genre of portraiture he would borrow motifs or styles from the most admired art of the past.
The silk print is from the early to mid 20th century and has been very nicely mounted and framed. In good condition with little sign of wear.
