Original Oil Pastel Sculptural Figurative Drawing By Gordon Young (1952-) [03]
An original large scale drawing by British artist Gordon Young. Born in Carlisle in 1952, Gordon Young is considered one of the UK’s leading artists in the field of public art.
This striking drawing of two figures is likely in conjunction with the collections of drawings we have previously listed, but on a larger scale with more attention to detail.
The drawings are in pencil and pastel/crayon with a signature and date of 1985. Gordon Young completed a number of sculpture commissions between the mid 1980s to the 1990s. These drawings bear a striking resemblance to his sculptures from that period, and are likely to be drawings in response to sculpture commissions.
The frame measures 86cm x 61.5cm
Aperture measures 81cm x 56.5cm
This large figurative drawing and three others currently in our possession were purchased as investments shortly after completion by a financial company, Provident (label on reverse). They have only recently been brought out of storage following the sale and dispersal of Provident.
