Original hand-drawn and coloured architectural drawings for proposed buildings in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The architect is William Martin Ashmore, a highly regarded award winning architect from Chesterfield who was active in the late 19th- early 20th century.
As well as being a very talented architect, the recent release of personal documents belonging to the Ashmore family has revealed he was a close friend of Edward Carpenter, socialist, poet and early gay rights activist.
We have a number of his original architectural drawings available, all of which are designs for buildings in Chesterfield.
This particular set of drawings shows sectional the side elevations and outhouses for a large public house or inn. There’s also a lovely detailed design for a Tudor Revival stained glass window. We have two further sets of drawings for the building also listed.
The drawings are on coated linen, it has a slight translucency to aid with copying. If you backed it with card, the details would be much stronger mix
Measures 55.5cm x 38cm.
