Original hand-drawn and coloured architectural drawings for a proposed building in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The architect is William Martin Ashmore, a highly regarded award winning architect from Chesterfield who was active in the late 19th - early 20th century.
As well as being a very talented architect, the recent release of personal documents belonging to the Ashmore family has revealed he was a close friend of Edward Carpenter, socialist, poet and early gay rights activist.
We have a number of his original architectural drawings available, all of which are designs for buildings in Chesterfield.
This particularly large collection of drawings is a design for two houses in Tennyson Avenue for a Mr. A. Hatfield. It’s dated 1909.
The drawings are on coated linen, this one is slightly thicker than some of the others and less translucent.
Measures 56cm x 54.5cm.
It will be posted folded along the fold lines.
