Original hand-drawn and coloured architectural drawings for proposed buildings in Chesterfield, Derbyshire. The architect is William Martin Ashmore, a highly regarded award winning architect from Chesterfield who was active in the late 19th- early 20th century.
As well as being a very talented architect, the recent release of personal documents belonging to the Ashmore family has revealed he was a close friend of Edward Carpenter, socialist, poet and early gay rights activist.
We have a number of his original architectural drawings available, all of which are designs for buildings in Chesterfield.
This particular set of drawings is for two semi detached four bedroom houses.
The drawings are on coated linen, this one is slightly thicker than some of the others and less translucent.
Measures 65.5cm x 47cm.
