A near pair of early to mid 20th century Afghan camel bags. Saddle bags were used on the back of a horse or camel for storing bedding and supplies for long treks but can be easily modified into cushions, shoulder bags or chair covers.
They’re made from a mixture of wools with a hand-knotted traditional tribal pattern in an attractive aubergine shade with dark blue, yellow and cream detailing.
Due to being handmade, they’re not a mirror-copy of each other, there is a little colour variation and the sizes are not an exact match.
One measures 23 inches x 21 inches.
The other measures 22 inches x 22 inches.
Some overall age related wear and marks to the back. They have been carefully hand-washed.
