Original oil painting by known St Ives artist Hector A. Mace (1902-1980). Though Mace was based in St Ives, the subject of the painting is actually much further north- The Lake District. The label on the back tells us it’s Derwentwater with the Skiddaw mountain in view at the back of the painting.
The label also reveals the painting was in the ‘Claire-De-Lune’ gallery in Carbis Bay, St Ives in Cornwall. The price is in guineas, which helps date the painting as pre 1971.
