Original screen print dated 1972. It is number 5 of a total of only 40 that were made. The screen print is titled and also signed by the artist, ‘G. Woodward’ or ‘C.H. Woodward’, we don’t know any more about them at this time, but we do have other work by the same artist listed for sale, including a piece he collaborated on with Birkin Haward.
Titled ‘Argive Hera’, the screenprint is seemingly a section of Ancient Greek ruins, possibly The Heraion of Argos, an Ancient Greek sanctuary dedicated to Hera.
The screen print is in its original c1970s period frame. The paper is sandwiched between two thick pieces of perspex.
The perspex has reflected the ceilings lights in some photos, which has caused some milky reflections. The green section of the picture includes the silhouettes of trees- these aren’t very clear in the photos and may be mistaken for water damage but they’re clearly trees in person. The screenprint has some slight yellowing around the edges from age and a few small blemishes. The perspex has some typical light scratches but it doesn’t greatly detract.
Frame measures 78cm x 52cm.
