This is a handmade reproduction of an original late 1930s-1940s era knitted dress. It has been entirely hand-knitted by my mother-in-law- a very experienced & skilled knitter. Ann used an original late 1930s/early 1940s era knitting pattern (see last photo).
The dress has been knitted in a none itchy, very soft bouclé wool/acrylic mix. The colour is a soft plum shade. The fit is intended to be close fitting with a straight skirt, as shown in the original pattern photograph.
The dress has stretch so would work on a variety of figures. As a guide, it’s best suited for someone around a UK 12, but please use the measurements below. Feel free to message if you’d like further guidance.
Bust 36”-38” - There is some allowance in the bust due to the deep ruching/pleats so there should be room for another inch across the front.
Waist 28”-32”.
Hips- up to around 40”.
Length 45”
