A late 20th century wool rug from Hamadan in Western Iran. The colour-way leans away from traditional colour schemes of Hamadan rugs with an unusually large amount of cream wool surrounding the central medallions which are a bright blue. The other colours in the design are tones of pink, burgundy and brown.
The rug has been gently cleaned and doesn’t have significant marks or stains, but the cream has some light marking from wear. It’s not significant and mostly caused by the coloured backing of the rug showing through the cream wool in areas- as shown in the photos. There is also a little sun fading.
Measures 160cm x 105cm.
