Dating from around 1860 onwards, this soft covered book is filled with original sketches, line drawings and watercolours. There are some very humorous inclusions with funny little characters with witty passages hand-written underneath. Alongside these jovial figures and scenes there are portrait miniatures, horses, historical figures, biblical references and landscapes. Some interesting more personal illustrations include depictions of people at a party with an exact date.
We have not been able to show all the pages within the photo limit, but most of them are shown, bar some towards the end with only one or two small sketches etc.
The book cover is dark blue oil cloth with a paper covering. The spine is damaged and some of the pages are loose. The pages themselves are fragile and damaged around the edges but the illustrations are drawings are generally on much thicker paper, which is stable without significant deterioration.
