Early 19th Century Pencil & Ink Portrait Miniature
Dated 1807, this simple yet skilfully completed portrait has been done in pencil and ink. Dressed in clothing that would be considered out of fashion in 1807, she is likely of moderate means but proudly shows her wedding band on her finger.
The paper has tanned with age and the ink has faded to a light brown, the detail in pencil is much less affected. There is also a water mark along the bottom of the paper. However, it’s still a charming and very beautifully detailed portrait.
Frame measures 29.5cm x 24.5cm
Aperture measures 23cm x 18cm
