These antique silver coin bracelets are commonly engraved with the name’s of the wearer’s children and other family members. This example however, appears to memorialise someone’s beloved pets. Engraved on the back of silver three pence coins are the names Buttons, Daisy Dog, Marie and Pattie, along with dates, likely the dates they died. The inclusion of ‘Dog’ after Daisy suggests that some of the names might belong to animals that aren’t dogs. Buttons certainly sounds more like a cat’s name!
The coins are from the mid to late 19th century, Queen Victorias iconic profile is a little worn on the earlier example. The bangle itself has some pretty detailing to its outer edge. Diameter of the bangle is 7cm or 2 3/4”. It fits an adult hand.
