A solid and sturdy late Victorian stool with Ash rounded feet, turned legs and stretchers. The Beech “slab top” is flat and level, so ideal for use as a small side table. It has a pan sized ring mark where it’s likely been used in a kitchen beside a stove. The top is stripped back and bleached, possibly from repeated washing and scrubbing down, though there is still traces of fire blackened patina in the grain and edges. The legs have a lot of patina, so much so, it’s hard to see the grain!
Even though the stool has clearly been well used over the years, it’s structurally very good. No movement in the legs and no wobble. There are a few small holes on the underside, they’re not woodworm as they’re regimented, they will just be tack/nail holes scars.
Height 46cm
Top measures 31cm x 25.5cm
