Late Victorian-Early Edwardian oak occasional table with barley twist legs and an unusual sarcophagus shaped top. A quality made piece- the combination of the unusual silhouette and varied detailing on such a small piece of furniture, was likely to showcase the craftsman’s skills and talent. Perhaps even used as somewhat of a “salesman’s sample”.
It’s in structurally good condition, the frame feels firm. There’s only light surface wear to the top, but the saucer feet have all been knocked and worn down on their outer edge.
Width 49.5cm x 49cm
Flat area in the top measures 39.5cm x 39cm
Height 46cm
