Antique c1900 Arts & Crafts Floral Foliate Hand-Knotted Rug

£145.00
sold out

An original late Victorian-Early Edwardian era rug with a beautifully striking floral and foliate design of Arum lilies, Roses and what we think are blue Morning Glory. A rare surviving example of a handmade rug from the Arts & Crafts era.

The rug is made from wool hand-knotted on a cotton foundation. The base colour is black with an outer frame and inner circular frame in a nude/beige tone.

There is a little bit of very faint colour bleed on the beige inner circular frame in one area, but it’s very hard to notice. There are also some faint spots (see photos). There is some damage to the edge in one area and a little bit of wear to the fringing, but it’s otherwise good condition for its age with no serious wear to the pile.
