A very charming original 19th century watercolour of three dogs, likely painted at request of their doting owner, of possibly painted by their owner! The three friends look to be a Jack Russell, a Pug and a Labrador Retriever. Note the Pug is wearing bells on its collar, this was a common fashion for a lot of small dogs in the 19th century, but especially Pugs.
The ebonised oval rope frame complements the painting perfectly. It has a little surface wear but nothing significant. The card mount has some water marks and foxing.
Frame measures 31cm x 26cm
Aperture measures 19.5cm x 14.5cm
