Shop Antique 19th Century Howard Style Deep Seated Country House Armchair

Antique 19th Century Howard Style Deep Seated Country House Armchair

£200.00
sold out

A handsome solid framed 19th century armchair with original period needlepoint upholstery is in need of some attention, but it could be used in its current worn state.

The needlepoint upholstery is hand-sewn and though faded and marked in some areas, it’s surprisingly stable with no holes, signs of moth damage or threadbare areas. Sections of the chair are only covered in what looks to be a felt base covering. There was possibly either another fabric on these areas or the original intention was to cover the chair entirely in needlepoint and it wasn’t ever completed.

The springs still feel firm and there doesn’t appear to be any other significant issues with the foundations of the chair. We do have a feather seat cushion that came with the chair (not pictured) it’s without a cover, but can be included. There’s also a custom made cover in a light pink which covers the entire chair, it’s faded but useable.

The castors on the front are wood and the ones on the back are ceramic.

Height of back 90cm

Depth of seat 63cm

Width of seat 55cm

Width of chair across arms 78cm

Full depth of chair 95cm
