19th Century Gouache of Man in Armour After Rembrandt

A Victorian era painting inspired by Rembrandt’s painting “A Man in Armour” painted in 1655. The painting has been done using gouache on wood board. The paint is only thinly applied and the grain and knots in the wood are prominent in areas, giving it a soft profile and shadowed appearance.

The gilt frame is 19th century and in good condition with only light wear and no restoration. The varnish is a little patchy in areas.
