An original c1940s-c1950s portrait of a fair-haired gentleman looking very suave with his patterned cravat. The portrait has been completed in oil pastels and it’s evident by the detail and use of colour that it has been done by an accomplished artist, but there unfortunately isn’t a clear signature.
Written on the back in pencil is the name ‘Fisher’, it’s written like a title in the centre, so is possibly the name of the sitter rather than the artist. There is also a note about a Breitling watch, probably unrelated to the painting and just a quickly jotted down reminder!
The frame is solid wood with gesso mouldings. It has been painted in an off white, with detailing highlighted in gilt- a popular colour scheme for the time!
There is a little damage to the gesso on the frame.
Frame measures 61cm x 51cm
Aperture measures 51cm x 41cm
